Celebrate Earth Day by participating in “Pick Up PA” with GDHS on Thursday, April 24. As in previous years, a group of dedicated volunteers will pick up trash and litter along Route 507 in Greentown. Please contact Linda Kramer at [email protected] if you have questions or would like to participate. Everyone is asked to meet at Dutch’s Market Parking Lot at 10:00 to receive your supplies and safety gear. Please make sure you wear gloves and appropriate clothing.
The Route 507 Litter Pick Up is a semiannual event organized by the Historical Society each spring and fall and registered with the State’s Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful program. On average, 10 to 15 bags of trash are collected each time, and the bags are then picked up by PennDOT workers and properly disposed of.
The Historical Society “adopted” this 2-mile stretch of highway more than 20 years ago under PennDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program, and a sign recognizing the group’s commitment to pick up litter twice a year is posted along the highway. The next Route 507 Litter Pick Up will be in October.
Please join us to help clean up litter and beautify our countryside!
